Harry Reids "I Had a Dream" Act
Harry Reids “I Had a Dream” Act
Slam on the brakes! Here comes another congressional “rush job”. There will be millions of future liberal and progressive voters wondering the deserts of Americas southwest for eons to come if Harry Reid doesn’t lead them out of the wilderness and get them registered. Who are you trying to be Harry? Moses or Martin Luther King? More like ACORN! I got news for you Boudreaux, you ain’t either!
Once again Harry is attempting to slam a bill through Congress that the majority of the American people do not want. What we want is for the law as it is already written to be upheld! Why does Harry feel so compelled to go around and over the top of our laws as written? Maybe it’s because our laws were not written to enhance a socialist state. Harry feels that if we don’t act now we will be making it all but certain that the initiative will languish for years. I certainly hope so – I want it to die a fast death and a law be made against sliding legislation into any bill in hopes of forcing a trade-off win.
Critics denounce the legislation as backdoor amnesty for lawbreakers. How about back door amnesty period?
Here’s how it would work:
Immigrants who were brought to the United States before the age of 16 would be eligible for conditional status for up to 10 years if they’ve lived in the country for at least five years and have graduated from an American high school or obtained a GED.
After 10 years, those immigrants can apply for permanent legal status if they’ve completed two years of college or military service. Previous versions would have granted permanent legal status immediately to those eligible

The Center for Immigration Studies pegs the cost at $6.2 billion a year. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that one version of the bill could add between $5 billion and $20 billion to the deficit by 2060 due to additional benefit program costs. But the CBO also said the bill would reduce the deficit by $1.4 billion over the first 10 years because of increased tax revenue from immigrant residents.
How about natural born citizens that will be put in the back of the line to join the Armed Forces in favor of some poor illegal alien? Let’s hear it from American citizens that didn’t make the cut at their chosen college or university because of some federal quota the school had to meet. (or be denied funds) You better believe that to be coming as a add on if the Dream Act ever passes.
This will turn into another Advanced Achievement Program that puts American citizens trying to get into college in second place. Blacks fought hard enough to get to the front of the line, now they have to give way to illegal aliens? Meanwhile, the average white guy comes in third place. OMG! Did that sound racist? I hope Harry Reid and any other liberals that needs a voter base doesn’t owe the Muslims a favor! I mean after all they’re great fighters. Let’s send the ones at GITMO that don’t already have a Ivy League education to USC or Syracuse. Surely we can not fail to add some other special interest programs for the Vietnamese. Look at the hell we put them thru once they arrived here after the war ended! Seriously, doesn’t anyone think that the American Indian should come first, followed by native born US citizens? When both of these groups are all considered veterans and academics, then we can consider other peoples misfortunes. AMERICAN CITIZENS PROBLEMS FIRST is all I ask. Not really, I prefer that after congress shoots this legislation down, that new legislation to require only one bill (stand alone bill) at a time to be voted on.
Contact your Congressman! Call them, write them or email them to let them know we don’t share the liberals dream. I’ve informed my Senators of how I feel now and in 2012 if they have anything to do with the DREAM Act. I certainly hope you will follow suit. The Republicans have to know that were watching!
