1/2 boy – 1/2 man

1/2 boy – 1/2 man

eng-log-room

The average age of the military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash yours. However, he wasn’t old enough to even be on the unemployment rolls when he put it all on the line for you.

He’s a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll as well as engines that propel a floating city or airplanes that can destroy an entire country.

Some of these men can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

Some can tell you how much hell is about to rain down upon a precise patch of the planet, what time it will start and when it will end.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient.

He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to’ square-away’ those around him who haven’t bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking. In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.

When this man returns to civilian life and calls upon you, respectfully seeking employment: Remember, it is you whom should be grateful that he considers you to offer his services. If he is qualified to keep this afloat for our nations military –

uss_ranger_cv-61

He is certainly capable of being trained to do anything you could possibly need him to do!

Just as did his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is but one of the American Fighting Men that has kept this country free for over 200 years.

Hire the American Veteran – they’re worth every dollar you pay them!

Sound familiar? Youve heard all this about Donald Trump, right?

Try Again. All this was said of Ronald Reagan in 1976 and 1980. Most of it was BY OTHER REPUBLICANS, and Reagan turned out to be arguably one of the greatest presidents of the 20th Century.

Imagine a room full of people

o-group-of-friends-shaking-hands-party-facebook

Imagine a room full of people.

You recognize that this is a full blown party, chocked full of food and drinks. A booming band has many of the occupiers moving and shaking to the upbeat sounds. Some even breakout into a full dance!

They’re laughing and talking to each other, shaking hands & making new lifelong contacts/friends. Some have known each other for years or decades, but somehow still manage to get together for one of these events.

Now imagine they belong to a Political Party.

Its not the Party that you belong to, or personally call your own.

Are they still assholes? Could it be possible that no one in this party has anything to say that you agree with? Do they represent everything you have come to hate in the maintenance of this nation? Are you really a party traitor if you join them? Would it be so bad if you tried to engage one of them in conversation and actually listened to their reasoning? Notice I didn’t say rush in and preach to them. Just stand, observe and listen.

What if one of them said something that you actually agreed with? Do you try to shuffle them out of there and convert them to your Party’s platform? Aaaargh, the choices of being a Saint or a Bore

Now hold still and replay all the mental images that just flashed before your mind. You know, the mental movie you directed while reading this. Was it a good one?

It was your choice – just like it is everyones choice to vote for whomever they are most comfortable with.

Lem’me know the next time you’re having a showing of your newest movie or material. Do you think it will be a hit or miss?

As a political pundit, or someone that spends an exorbitant amount of time researching political news and “facts”, are you becoming more educated on the subject – or developing a confirmation bias?

Your opinions are the result of years of paying attention to information that confirmed what you believed while ignoring information, which challenged your preconceived notions.

Confirmation bias is a filter through which you see a reality that matches your expectations. (You see what you want to see) It causes you to think selectively, but the real trouble begins when confirmation bias distorts your active pursuit of facts. Will you refuse to read a book or news article if you know it is written by a known member of the opposing political ideology or party? Are the only books you read, the ones in which you know they will write or say whatever it is that you need to hear?

You seek out safe havens for your ideology – friends and coworkers of like mind and attitude, media outlets guaranteed to say whatever you need them to say. Not associating with certain people at work because you know they hold different political views than yourself prevents you from constantly validating what you want to believe. They may say things that are contradictory to how you believe, and you don’t like it. Most times, your opinions or beliefs are so intertwined with your self-image that you cant pull them away without damaging your self-perception, and this causes you to avoid situations that may cause harm to those beliefs.

Over time, by never seeking the opposite view, while perusing online news subscriptions, magazines, stacks of books and hours of television, you can become so confident in your world-view no one could change your mind.

Remember, there’s always someone out there willing to sell eyeballs to advertisers by offering a guaranteed audience of people looking to validate their opinions or conclusions. Ask yourself if you are in that audience. In science, you move closer to the truth by seeking evidence to the contrary. Perhaps the same method should inform your opinions as well.

If your goal is to soothe your inner ego with information that you already know – keep researching your subjects in the same mannerisms that you presently use. If you want true education and perspective, it’s time to start researching the other side of the object, while making possible that it could be correct.

All of the above provides ample reason as to why social media like Facebook or Twitter will forever be a ruse in political objectivity. When people can “un-friend or block” a person with a differing viewpoint and often do so – that person is seeking validation, not knowledge. These social media types need confirmation and stimulation from their “friends and followers” that they are the enlightened ones, and have the most correct hypothesis for their punditry. Until you are willing to argue either side in a debate and prepared to negotiate a win-win, you are living with confirmation bias and seeking validity from others.

THE NIGHT WATCHMAN

725497166-night-shift-night-watchman-awaken-baseball-cap

A long time ago, the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert.

Congress said, “Someone may steal from it at night.”

So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, “How does the watchman do his job without instruction?”

So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.
Then Congress said, “How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?”
So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One was to do the studies and one was to write the reports.
Then Congress said, “How are these people going to get paid?”
So they created two positions: a time keeper and a payroll officer then hired two people.
Then Congress said, “Who will be accountable for all of these people?”
So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.
Then Congress said, “We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $918,000 over budget, we must cut back.”

So they laid-off the night watchman.

NOW slowly, let it sink in.
Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter. Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter administration?

Anybody?

Anything?

No?

Didn’t think so!

Bottom line is, we’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency, the reason for which very few people who read this can remember!

Ready?

It was very simple… and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate.

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8/04/1977, to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
Hey, pretty efficient, huh?

Now it’s 2015 – 38 years later – and the budget for this “Necessary” department is at $24.2 Billion per year.  It has 16,000 federal employees and approximately 100,000 contract employees – and look at the job it has done!

THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, “WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?”

38 years ago 30% of our oil consumption was foreign imports.

Today 70% of our oil consumption is foreign imports.

That’s what you call good old Federal bureaucracy.

Divided By Choice

Today, I got tired of following politics non-stop, and decided to think of something just as important for a change. A person that I have always respected, and whose friendship I cherish made this comment in one of our conversations:

“I rarely have company at my house, everyone’s always so busy”.

That statement struck me as odd because this person has such a lovely home, equipped with everything that almost everyone ever dreams of having. They have a huge living area, with a humongous television screen for ballgames, movies and such. The kitchen area could produce a meal for an army regiment. The entire back side of the house has a deck that could host a live band, and this overlooks the swimming pool with many lounge chairs, umbrella’s and a fire pit.

Therefore, I could not help but wonder why everyone seemed to be so busy and this person rarely entertained at home. We all go to work and attempt to make ourselves as successful as possible. I think that most everybody out there, wants to have a “Better Homes and Gardens” type of dwelling they can call their own. Perhaps the real question is why do we want to have such a home. Of course the real answer is that our home identifies us as much as the automobile we drive. For centuries the Kings & Queens of royalty and those that aspire to be like them, have always entertained at home. Anyone ever recall a story about some commoner sitting at home and the King drops by? So it goes without saying that people have nice homes because they want to be comfortable and just as important – they want to entertain their guest and family in these comfortable surroundings.

So what are the reasons that a person could have all of this, and still “rarely” entertain friends or family? Very few people ever want to consider the reasons for this. After all, most people are not overworked hermits with a total lack of social skills. Very few people really want to be totally alone unless forced to socialize with others. But no one really thinks of the social mores, habits and lifestyles of all of those involved in their lives. So I decided to think about it for them. The following represents a few of the thoughts I had on the subject.

People that don’t come to your house and why

Smokers – because you don’t allow smoking inside
Non-Smokers – because you do smoke inside, and your house stinks

Drunks – because you will not provide them with alcohol
Non-Drinkers – because everyone including yourself are drinking

Democrats – because they know that they have very little in common with you other than whiskey & cigarettes
Republicans – because they think you’re to opinionated and have no facts other than talking points to back yourself up with (at least thats the rumor)
Independents – because they just don’t want to hear either of the other parties rants

Religious Folks – because they would rather be sharing the word of God and know you don’t want to hear it
Heathens – because they don’t want to have to watch every word they say or hear a sermon (and countless other reasons)

Parents (Anyone that has kids) – because they feel uncomfortable with what their kids may do to, or in your house. They are too concerned with the imposition that they feel is placed on you, as their kids yell and scream, or ask awkward questions. It’s just best (they feel) to not go to your house with the children.

Non-Parents – many of them feel that your time with them will constantly be interrupted while you babysit, cook, or discipline your children. Perhaps the reason for their visit is something that you should not be doing in front of the children anyway.

Therefore, until you give up your mandates and ways of thinking about smoking, drinking, religion, politics or kids – you’re going to have a beautiful home that no one wants to visit.

Would it kill you to allow a friend that smokes to light one up in your house? You can’t seriously believe that an evening with one of these people is going to give you cancer. If you really believe that your house will stink for days, and that you will never get the smell of cigarette smoke out of all things made with linen, enjoy your empty home. You are wrong – but it is your home. If you are the smoker and people don’t come to your house – you now have a clue as to why. It’s not your personality they object to – it’s your habit. Don’t expect them to understand – if by chance they do permit your vice, try not to take advantage of their friendship or family status.

Drinking in your house will not make you responsible for another persons alcoholism or signify that you condone drunks. Why not serve a beer or glass of wine? Let people know that they are your guest and insist on serving, pouring all drinks. Set time limits on when you have to call it a night, or leave to be at a previous committed function and graciously see them to the door. I mean seriously, would you rather spend the rest of your life with these people avoiding you?

When it comes to politics, nothing says that you have to respond when the subject is broached. When they ask your opinion, give it, if you have one. Don’t try to show everyone the extent of your expert knowledge on the subject. They will either disagree and try to show you how smart they are, or educate you as to why you need to think just like them. Unless someone is as well versed or better at the subject than you are, you may be better off keeping your political opinions to yourself.

Religion in your house is your choice. You should not assume that because they came for a visit that they need to be saved. This is also not the time to impress them with your biblical knowledge. If you do not care to engage in the subject (if they bring it up), listen quietly and when the opportunity presents itself, change the subject. If you are the religious type and feel that its your duty to save everyone, you might want to consider whether the people you are attempting to save, want to be saved or not. Otherwise, just go on over to the church and hang out with the choir.

Kids – Pay attention to them. I mean shower them with your questions! This will either shut them up, or give you hours of conversation that their parents love to talk about. You can welcome the children and their parents or you can sit at home and wonder why you never see them. This is really simple – just understand that children are a fact of life and expect others to put them first.

We can choose our friends but we can’t choose our family. That is, unless you’re the type that has no qualms with kicking them out. We choose our friends by engaging with like-minded individuals, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have habits we don’t support. One can either accept their habits or remove them from the next party invitations that go out.

Acceptance seems to be the key to these situations. It does no harm to accept people for who they are, while they are visiting your home. That’s why they call it a visit! A lack of acceptance is one of the main reasons that American families are so distant and divided. The other options are to learn to love yourself and enjoy the solitude.

Millions of Shades of Gray

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America, we fought for the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America, and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the “Hope and Change” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.”

You youngsters have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or “Climbing the Social Ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the “Great Lie” in 2008 are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the ‘Kool-Aid.’ Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Division is here, and in 2016 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we’re going, and in 2016 we’re going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Eric Holder. It belongs to “We the People” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the “Gray-Haired Division.”

Footnote: This is spot on. I am another Gray-Haired Division Geezer signing on. I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great count. Can you feel the ground shaking???

It’s not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.

Time to go Mr. Speaker

images

America wants John Boehner to be voted out as Speaker of the House. The Questions is: Will House Representatives represent the people who voted them into office, or will they pacify Boehner and go shopping for lucrative committee leaderships? If freshman representatives think that their constituents aren’t watching, or will not know how they voted, they had better find themselves a better person to handle their Social Media assignments. The country will be watching this vote as closely as they did the midterms. This vote is also not considered a safe bet for RINO’s that desire longer employment than the year 2016. Americans over the age of 21 are waking up and paying attention and that means they will not be forgetting if their representative turned their back on them or not during this vote.

The two Congressmen below, share all the reasons needed to shore up the House with new leadership. The Republican voters did not hand the House and Senate such landslide victories in 2010 and 2014 so they could watch their efforts implode due to poor leadership. As Dr. Gregory House from the famed television show says, “Everybody lies”. Warning to all House Representatives: Get your House in order or be prepared to get cancelled out.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) issued a statement on Saturday detailing why he’s going to vote against House Speaker John Boehner’s re-election on Tuesday.

Boehner “schedule[d] a fiscal crisis in a lame duck session on the last legislative day before Christmas to get maximum leverage over rank and file members” and then worked to “mislead members into thinking that a vote on an unpopular bill was postponed, only to then conduct a rushed voice vote on the $10 billion unfunded spending measure with fewer than a dozen members present.”

Boehner also made sure to “give members less than 72 hours to read bills over 1,000 pages long, and,” Massie said, has proven he will “remove members from committees simply because they voted for the principles upon which they campaigned.”

“With a process this broken, is it any wonder that Washington no longer works for the people?” Massie said. “My constituents expect better, and America deserves better. On January 6th, 2015, I will vote for a new Speaker who will consistently articulate a constitutional vision for America and facilitate an inclusive and orderly legislative process that allows Congress to truly reflect the will of the people.

Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) says he will not vote for House Speaker John Boehner’s reelection as speaker. He specifically cites the “Cromnibus,” the government-funding measure that passed before lawmakers ended the 113th Congress in December.

Bridenstine notes that, despite huge wins by Republicans in the midterm elections and with Democrats in melt-down mode, Boehner worked with Obama and surrendered Republican’s best chance at retaining control in Congress.

“Together they crafted the CR/Omnibus, a $1.1 trillion spending bill which funded the government for 10 months and blocked our newest elected Republicans from advancing conservative policy and delivering on campaign promises,” Bridenstine said. “With this vote, Republicans gave away the best tool available to rein in our liberal activist President: the power of the purse. The power of the purse is Congress’ Constitutional strength.”

Bridenstine argued that passing the cromnibus provided Obama and liberals a huge victory by funding Obamacare

At this critical juncture, the few dozen conservatives in the House have two options. They can allow themselves and the 2014 electorate to remain disenfranchised, helplessly standing by while Boehner passes crucial legislation on amnesty, budget bills, Obamacare, and debt ceiling increases with Democrat support. Or they can seize control of their own destiny by using the first vote of this Congress – the only vote for which Boehner cannot rely on Democrat support – to veto the Speaker himself and preempt a disastrous two years of lawmaking.

To be clear, there is zero chance of Pelosi becoming Speaker because she would never win more than 188 votes, far short of the majority of the House body. The very hour that this vote takes place, will become a defining moment for so many Representatives – You either define it or it surely will define you. Those campaigns cost a lot of money – don’t waste it with a vote that you know America does not want you to cast!

The “Neofiscapaleon” 2016

The American People can continue to blindly vote for the winner of 2015-2016 Popularity Contest for their next President, or they can get busy finding the correct person to lead this country. Make no mistake about it, the “media” will attempt everything under the sun to misinform you all the way to the polls, where they pray that you will vote for the person that “they” have pre-selected for you.

The left wing media is every bit as involved in choosing a Republican candidate, as they are in propping up their candidate – Hillary Clinton. The goal of our dear media is to insure they pick a candidate that – at least half of all registered Republicans can’t stomach. That’s easy enough to do, because it’s virtually impossible to get 10 people in a room that will agree on everything. This is the problem! The media and opposing party’s all realize that the Republican party will be looking for the “perfect” candidate, that can never be found!

Republicans think they will boil it down to “the lesser of 2 evils” by the end of the Republican National Convention. What they will ultimately wind up with are the GOP Establishment candidate and the winner of the popularity contest, that has been going on for the previous year and a half. Once the RNC convenes, only a handful of people will remember the previous convention and the shenanigans that took place in order to select the GOP chosen preference. Voila! You got it! Here’s your newest, greatest hope for a better 4 years. A couple of billion dollars down the drain on wasted campaigns, and what we end up with is the GOP and media pick that has always been there from the beginning. Let the celebrations begin over at the DNC Headquarters!

On the outside chance that some citizens get really super patriotic and start agreeing with each other for the betterment of everyone, and elect a candidate that a majority actually agree with – then there’s the election booth and the counting of votes itself to contend with. Does the name Chris McDaniels ring a bell? It’s not always the other party or Al Franken that can steal an election – just ask Harry Reid or W.

In other words, unless the election results in a total landslide victory – there’s no such thing as a fair election anymore. Only the people with “no memory, short memory, or are totally lost behind their rose colored glasses” will feel that this is too cynical, and can’t possibly be true.

So what does the media have in mind for the Republican Party? Let’s go with a Social Conservative as the Democrats will have absolutely no chance of losing in that department. The media can tie the minds of the citizenry with slanted and unbalanced “breaking now” stories for the next 100 years on those subjects alone. Abortion, same sex marriage, religious liberty and illegal immigration have put many liberal democrats in office for decades and a good social conservative wouldn’t have a snowballs chance, in an attempt to out-politic one of these pros. Even the Tea Party could get behind anyone that is against these issues.

Running a social conservative against Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. But a good fight against mainstays of the liberal regime is just too much to resist for those just itching for a battle of wits. Our nation has far too many people that would rather win the battle, than win the war within our own divided country.

The Neofiscapaleon

Let me introduce the Neofiscapaleon (No it’s not an offshoot of Sarah Palin) This brand of Conservative is a combination of Neo, Fiscal and Paleo conservatism.

Fiscal conservatives oppose unnecessary government expenditures, deficits, and government debt. (No, they’re not the same) They take the perspective of the present and future taxpayers, and worry about the possible burden on them. They support balanced budgets!

Neoconservatives believe in a diplomatic foreign policy, stimulating economic growth by lowering taxes and finding alternative ways to deliver public welfare services. Culturally, neoconservatives tend to identify with traditional conservatives, but stop short of providing guidance on social issues
Paleoconservatives emphasize a connection with the past. Like neoconservatives, paleoconservatives tend to be family-oriented, religious-minded and opposed to the vulgarity permeating modern culture. They are also opposed to mass immigration and believe in the complete withdrawal of US military troops from foreign countries.

Until Americans quit worrying about whether the girl next door is dating a Muslim, and her brother is having gay sex with an illegal alien, we will continue on the same path. Not that these issues aren’t important, but little things like government corruption, wars, the IRS and foreign policy matter much more to so many of us. Once our nation slips back into another depression/recession, and the countries that have lost all respect for us continue to kill American citizens at even more alarming rates – who’s sleeping with whom, won’t really matter – will it? Just don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater!

We really need to put down the coloring books and get back to business!
